Q & A with Paul Goggin

Paul Goggin is the current Deputy, and former Lord Mayor for the City of Bristol and the elected Labour Councillor for the South Bristol ward of Hartcliffe & Withywood, one of the most deprived in the country. Paul experienced homelessness living on the streets of Bristol and is committed to using his traumatic experiences to now do some good. By focusing on trying to tackle the housing crisis, dealing with the root causes for the ever-increasing problem of homelessness, and the issues that arise around it for the most vulnerable.

Paul has spoken openly and publicly about his own struggles with mental health, living with Bipolar affective disorder and complex PTSD arising from adverse childhood experiences of his father being a gambling addict and mother an alcoholic, neglect, violence and abuse, in order to reduce the stigma, normalise neurodiversity and to help those embarking on the same journey.
