About the event

Richard is currently the High Sheriff of the County and City of Bristol. The Office of High Sheriff is an independent non-political Royal appointment for a one year supporting the Crown and the judiciary. Typically, High Sheriff’s lend support and encouragement to crime prevention agencies, the emergency services and to the voluntary sector during their year of office.

Richard has established a number of charities including prison music project Changing Tunes, Homeless charity Emmaus Bristol and The Beacon Centre, Cardiff (a multipurpose community centre). He is also a member of the Board of Trustees for the Dovetail Orchestra which is a creative music group for asylum-seekers and refugees based in Bristol. Richard is an ordained minister in the Church of England and the President of the 2124 Squadron Air Training Corps.

Richard was awarded an MBE in the New Year Honours 2009 for charitable services to the community in Bristol and appointed as a Deputy Lieutenant for the County and City of Bristol in 2010.
